“All of us really had our hearts in it. We arrived on day one with the notes in our fingers so we could dive straight into the artistic details.

In just a few days, we learned how to truly make music together. Every student, from youngest to oldest, was so excited and proud to be on that stage at the final performance.”

– Sophie Vincoff, violinist

General Information: We welcome violinists, violists, cellists, and pianists to audition for The Artists Program (TAP) Chamber Music Festival held at the Congregational Church of Manhasset. Each participant will be placed into a chamber music group based on their age and level, and will receive individualized attention from our esteemed faculty throughout the week. Students will also rehearse and perform alongside our faculty in one of three orchestras. Select chamber groups will have the special opportunity to perform in our guest artist masterclass.

Extended Day: Students ages 10 and older who are interested in participating in additional practice time and technique building should consider applying for Extended Day. Each participating student will receive two private lessons during this time throughout the week. Extended Day runs Tuesday through Friday from 11am to 1pm for an additional $260.00. Lunch is not provided, however, students may bring their lunch and eat together with fellow students and faculty starting at 1pm. Students are allowed to leave the premises with a parent/guardian during their lunch break. Please note that the capacity for Extended Day is limited.

Audition Requirements: All new and returning applicants must submit the required video recordings in the form of YouTube or Google Drive links through the application form. Please make sure your link settings allow us to view the videos.

  1. A solo piece (approximately 4-6 minutes in length)
  2. The provided chamber music excerpt according to the applicant’s age at the time of submission. If your child has a birthday this spring that makes them eligible for the next age category of excerpts, please choose the excerpt in either category that best suits your child’s playing ability. We have selected and organized all the chamber music excerpts in a folder here with recording and performance guidelines.

Make sure that the sound in the video is of high quality, and that we are able to see the performer in full from an audience’s perspective. Recordings made on an iPhones or tablet are acceptable. Audition videos help us accurately place all students in chamber groups and string orchestra.

Please note that piano applications are only open to students 10 years and older.

Masterclass: On Wednesday evening we will have our annual pizza party outside in the courtyard with our participating festival students and faculty. Following the pizza party, selected chamber music groups will perform in a masterclass for our guest artists. Families are invited to join us for both the pizza party and masterclass.

Final Concerts: The festival will culminate in performances given by our three string orchestras on Friday evening, August 16, 2024, and each chamber music group on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
