August 14-19, 2023

1845 Northern Blvd,

Manhasset, Long Island

“All of us really had our hearts in it. We arrived on day one with the notes in our fingers so we could dive straight into the artistic details.

In just a few days, we learned how to truly make music together. Every student, from youngest to oldest, was so excited and proud to be on that stage at the final performance.”

– Sophie Vincoff, violinist

General Information: Suzuki on the Island welcomes violinists, violists, cellists, and pianists ages 6-20 to audition for The Artists Program (TAP) Chamber Music Festival held August 14–19, 2023 at the Congregational Church of Manhasset. Each participant will be placed into a chamber music group based on their level and will receive individualized attention from our esteemed teachers in both individual lessons and group settings. Students will also rehearse/perform alongside the faculty in one of three orchestras, and some students will have the special opportunity to play their chamber works or solo repertoire in a masterclass setting for TAP guest artists.

Extended Day: In response to requests from former festival students and families, we have added an extended day option for students ages 10 and older who are interested in participating in assisted practicing and technique building in their solo repertoire. Each participating student will receive two private lessons during this time throughout the week and will engage in additional presentations and workshops. This extended day runs Tuesday through Friday from 11am to 1pm and is optional for an additional $250.00 for the week. Lunch is not provided.

Audition Requirements: Please submit a YouTube link to a recent video (5-6 minutes in length) that demonstrates the student’s performance of solo repertoire. Please make sure that the sound in your video is of high quality, and that we are able to see the performer in full from an audience’s perspective. Recordings made on an iPhones or tablet are acceptable. A playing sample is required for all new and returning students. This helps us accurately place all students in chamber groups and in string orchestra.

Masterclass: On Wednesday evening we will have our annual pizza party outside in the courtyard with all our participating festival students and faculty. Following the pizza party, selected chamber music groups will perform in a masterclass for our guest artist.

Final Concert: The festival will culminate in performances given by our three orchestras on Friday, August 18, 2023 and each chamber music group on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

Tuition and General Information:

Tuition is $925.00 per person for general enrollment and $875.00 per person for early enrollment. Extended day will run Tuesday through Friday from 11:00am-1:00pm and is optional for an additional $250.00 for the week.
